When I Bleed

Wandering far, carrying scars
Of struggles I’ve known, these seeds that I’ve sown
In this self-centered life, my greatest of foes
Is blinding my eyes, but one thing I know

When I bleed, what I need is your blood
When I bleed, what I need is your blood

So often I’ve tried, to self-justify
But I cannot lie, this treasure inside
Is something you bought with you very own life
When you laid down your soul was cut like a knife

Your hands bore my pain, my filth and my sin
A veil of your flesh was torn from within
Your father looked cold on his only born son
You cried in the night, victory was won

When I bleed, what I need is your blood
When I bleed, what I need is your blood

Now will anyone say as they hear me this day
“What right does he have, what price has he paid,
To receive such a love, to possess such a faith?”
Well His death is my claim to look on His face

When I bleed, what I need is your blood
When I bleed, what I need is your blood
